mission trip interest
In Acts 1, we believe that Jesus called us to share the Gospel with Jerusalem (our loved ones), Judea (our own community), Samaria (our neighboring communities), and to all the ends of the earth (globally). At Redemption Road, we are involved in several global mission trips a year. In 2025, we plan to take a trip to Malawi in late winter to serve When The Saints, and to Romania to serve Camp Hope in the fall.

Romania
Every fall (Aug-Sept) our church partners with International Access to Missions (IAM) for a mission trip to Romania, where our main focus is Camp Hope. Camp Hope is used to host Christian summer camps for Romanian kids. On the property, there are two large mission homes, a chapel, a soccer field, a volleyball court, and a spring-fed creek.
Currently, our primary mission at Camp Hope is to continue the construction of the second mission home. Once the project is completed, we would like to contribute help in running the summer camps. Most of the younger population is fluent in English so a translator isn’t necessary. Each year we encourage our members to have a written testimony to share. On Sundays, we break into groups to attend several of the local churches of Brasov. This is an excellent opportunity to share your testimony, encourage other believers, and to experience the different culture of worship. Some of the popular sightseeing places we have attended are Brans Castle (Dracula’s), a beautiful gothic monument known as the Black Church, and countless spots to overlook the gorgeous city of Brasov. There are also opportunities to share dinners, shop, and hike the beautiful Romanian mountains.
Malawi
Every year in late January, Redemption takes a mission trip to Malawi, Africa. We partner with an organization called When the Saints. This ministry’s primary focus is to rescue girls from sexual exploitation and break this repetitive cycle through the transforming love of Christ. The holistic care of WTS’s long-term housing aims to allow healing for these girls through discipleship, counseling, and career training. Redemption’s primary mission is to share the gospel with Malawi through bible training with the girls and local outreach in the surrounding community.
Flexibility is the best mindset to have during your time with When the Saints. There will be opportunities to go on a rescue trip and see the raw process of bringing a girl to the camp. They also allow us to venture out to host Bible studies in villages, go to refugee camps, and learn more about the culture and how they worship Jesus.
Their culture is very unique. They have to walk everywhere they go and have to go to the well to get water. Most people make less than a dollar a day. There is a lot of poverty around, but even in the poverty they find so much joy and happiness. They are very friendly and welcoming. Malawi seems to have move at a slower pace. WTS staff and translators are with you most of the time, but some of the Malawians are fluent in English as well. For dress code, the women wear dresses, skirts, and long shorts. For tops, spaghetti straps, t-shirts, or v-necks are okay. When going out into the villages, the women are asked to wear wraps around our waists. Wear clothes you won’t mind getting dirty from the red dirt road. There are opportunities for entertainment as well like going to the Malawi Lake!
